Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil (or to their ardent fans, LizQuen) return to the movies with “Alone/Together”, a new romance film written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone. The film marks the two’s fifth major collaboration following 2017’s “My Ex and Whys”, and their first time working with Jadaone on a feature film.
Black Sheep has shared with us an official one-sheet for the film (farther down below), as well as a 90-second teaser. Watch it right after the bump.
Plot details are pretty scant as of press time, but it’s known that Soberano plays a character named Christine, an ambitious Arts major from U.P. (University of the Philippines) who sparks a relationship with Raf, played by Gil, a med-student from U.S.T. (University of Santo Tomas).
Personally, I’m a sucker for stories whose drama are informed by the specificity of a place. In Jadaone’s new film’s case, it’s two of the countries’ popular colleges. I’m intrigued to see how it plays out.
One look from the poster and you can spot the billing for Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who here we can only assume plays a role that factors in a scene featured in the teaser where Christine laments about what went wrong with her and Raf. “Hindi ko talaga alam kung ano’ng nangyari.”
Of course, my mind went straight to Before territory, thinking how the tenderness and sadness of that scene are somewhat akin to that of the “Still there…and gone” scene from Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight”.
"still there…and gone."
