Chito S. Roño’s ‘Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan’ to stream on Prime Video

The long-awaited adaptation of Bob Ong’s book drops on May 18th.

Chito S. Roño’s adaptation of Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan has found its streaming home with Prime Video.

The announcement comes from Black Sheep’s tweet: “Nakakakilabot, nakakagimbal, at mapapaisip! Malapit [nang] mabuklat ang mga mensahe ni Mama Susan!”

They have also attached this spooky one-sheet.

Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan is based on an epistolary horror novella written by Bob Ong. It’s a brisk read, written from the POV of the main character, Galo, who writes in his journal a sinister discovery about his hometown and his grandmother, Mama Susan.

The casting, at least with the principal characters, is pretty much spot-on: Joshua Garcia plays Galo. Angie Fierro plays Mama Susan.

The film will stream on May 18th, 2023, with Amazon Prime Video. No talks about a theatrical run as of this writing.
